Elvis at 21 Exhibition Campaign

Elvis at 21: Photographs by Alfred Wertheimer at Telfair Museums is now open!   I wanted to share a bit of my process for this campaign. I was inspired by letterpress concert posters of the time, especially noteworthy is Hatch show print, based in Nashville TN which has been operating since the 1870s. They created many famous posters advertising concerts (including Elvis), and still operates today. Traditionally posters were printed using large wooden letters and photo plates, inked and then sent through a printing press. Thanks to Telfair’s studio resources and modern technology I decided to make my own. I made my own card stock letters, cut, printed, and colored elements to make the type. I used photoshop and filters to build my own Elvis ‘photo plate.’  After all of the analog designs, I scanned everything and used the computer for layout.  It was a lot of fun. Stay tuned and keep your eyes open as our materials will be rolling out in the next couple of weeks throughout downtown Savannah.  Printed materials: coasters, rack cards, stickers, fans… Signage: Broughton Street Kiosk Posters, Bay Street Banners, Billboards, Pedi Cab wraps…
