All in the Details
Photographs of Architectural Details
The modernist architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is famous for saying, "God is in the Details." This idiom expresses the idea that whatever one does in life, they should do it thoroughly and completely. Within the practice of architecture it is incredibly important to design with this ethic in mind and to remember that the details matter. It is the architect's job to make sure that every part of a building is functional and practical as well as artistic. This work mentality is in turn reflected in the practice of architectural photography, where it is the photographer's job to make sure that architecture is accurately represented and beautifully captured. The intention of this growing body of work is to capture architecture and present the viewer with the significant details that make it so important.
