Design proposal done as part of a travel studio in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The multi-use music center was intended to tap into the rich, local music scene within Brazil, allowing for performances and shows at a variety of scales. The complex also houses a series of learning facilities including classrooms, practice rooms and recital rooms intended to give the children of Sao Paulo a chance for expression and developing their artistic talent.
The concept of the project was drawn from 3-dimensional musical waveforms. The strategy was to manipulate the site in response to the existing on-site circulation in the same way that music creates these waveform diagrams. A rigorous structural and tectonic rhythm was used to further the connection with sound and the musical environment. This project was generated entirely using parametric tools and was completely adjustable based on program size, on-site circulation conditions, and the existing site conditions.
This project was chosen for showcase by USC school of architecture.
