The Sea Turtle Series

Personal experimental work using illustration and photography. I chose to look at Sea turtles because they are very interesting creatures; they can live up to 100 years, maybe even more! They have seen the many depths of the ocean, more than humans ever will, and they've seen the earth change right before the. As a way to explore the relationship between the ocean and the Sea turtles, I looked at how it would look like if the ocean they've been travelling on, was reflected on the back of their shell.

The illustrations were hand drawn and scanned onto photoshop, where I masked the photographs onto it. This work was more about developing my compositional skills as I had to play about with a lot of different compositions, to see how each photograph would appear onto the back of each illustrated turtle. This work was very experimental as I played about with all the skills I learnt so far using photoshop and used them together onto this work.
