In April/May 2016, I set myself the project of creating illustrations for Frances Hodgson Burnett's book, The Secret Garden. I wanted to devise a set a characters, inspired from the books description, and then transfer them into the world created within the text. I chose to traditionally collage my own hand painted papers, created through mark making, various printing methods, and then make some fine adjustments digitally to further enhance my image.
The style of my illustration was influenced by one of my favourite children's Illustrators, Eric Carle, as well as the likes of Tracey English, and Alice Lindstrom.
