Super Lawyers’ Patented Selection Process

A partner at Sullivan & Cromwell in Los Angeles, Eric Krautheimer works as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer. In this capacity, he helps clients buy and sell companies and advises them about shareholder activism. Throughout his career, Eric Krautheimer has been repeatedly recognized for his high-quality work and has been named to such lists as Southern California Super Lawyers.

Super Lawyers is a reputable rating service that recognizes top lawyers from over 70 practice areas throughout the United States. The service relies upon its patented selection process to choose each honoree. Lawyers are chosen on an annual, state-by-state basis and are evaluated on 12 indicators of professional achievement and peer recognition.

The multiphase selection process begins with nominations. There are four ways a lawyer can be nominated: identification by the Super Lawyers team, managing partner survey, peer nomination, or third party feedback. Lawyers are not allowed to campaign for their nomination or nominate themselves.

From there, nominees are evaluating based on independent research and peer reports. The independent research process takes into account everything from honors and awards to verdicts, community service, and experience. Individuals who score the highest total points during the first two rounds are asked to serve on Super Lawyers’ Blue Ribbon Panel. This panel evaluates other candidate within their primary practice area. Finally, Super Lawyers makes its final selection. Roughly five percent of nominated lawyers are selected to Super Lawyers, and another 2.5 percent are selected to Rising Stars.
