Designer/Maker Interstudio Project

This was a collaboration with Studio A + B. Collaboration is the foundation of design. The aim of this project was to explore making and prototyping as a design tool. Working for Josef Herman Foundation on a tight deadline of two weeks, to design and make a 1:1 prototype to meet the client’s brief. - A mobile exhibition space that could be disassembled and transported to numerous events throughout the year.

The process of collaborating with other architecture students from both studios, especially for our first brief was a valued experience for me. Specifically because I feel my skills are weak when it comes to model making and being hands on, as I prefer drawing and digital media. As we had to design and build a prototype the main design process we explored was model making and creating scaled models of ideas. We did a few individual exercises to express our interpretation of the brief. We then came together with our conceptual models and collectively came up with a design that we were all happy to continue exploring and testing. A broad range of skills were applied to this project and by sharing and discussing ideas, it played a pivotal role in deepening my understanding on model making, therefore developing my skills. In addition, collaborating with others helped me identified my own strengths. I helped with the graphics element  to represent the design process and final outcome for the final review.
