I was initially perplexed by the original image from my third grader. I drew inspiration from the orange background and the spirals on the top of the image. I translated the elementary eyes and mouth into a more sophisticated design. I also positioned my stripes in more of a strategic way. I used the mesh tool along with gradients to add 3D effects. I lastly added shadows to create depth within a 2D image.
