Emoji App - Contextual Research

Using SCAD Professor, Bruce Claxton's D.E.S.I.G.N. Process, I researched SCAD students in order to discover if emojis were a new form of communication among millennials.

I began the process by ideating an emoji app that would be built into iOS. This app would allow users to digitally draw anything that they wish to export into an emoji. Upon exporting, the drawing would be rendered to fit the style of preexisting emojis.

Following ideation, I researched to discover if this app was a need. I used one of the IDEO tools called a cultural probe. I posed four questions, and hung them around the freshman campus for millennials to engage with. Hours later, I returned to plenty of results.

Here is the process.
