The Helvetica of England

Gill Sans is known as the "Helvetica of England" due to its prominent use throughout the country well as the remainder of Europe. It was developed by Eric Gill in 1926, and has been widely used since. 

The project involved creating a type specimen in the form of two magazine spreads and a poster. This allowed me to experiment with use of a design system over multiple pieces and to create a cohesive concept.

Gill Sans is known for its characteristic shape and form. It was important to incorporate the forms of Gill Sans throughout the layout, and to highlight the unique qualities of the typeface.

Gill Sans contains slight details that add to its overall charm and readability. These nuances in style help make it the memorable typeface it is.
