the old man and the sea

the old man and the sea is a redesign of the famous short novel written by the American author Ernest Hemingway in 1951. The intent was to release the story from the text and create an atmosphere through the book. With only blue, red, yellow, black and the white from the paper I portrayed not only the main character’s thoughts but also his adventures throughout the story.
The number 84, that later becomes the number 85, is the count for
how many days has the old man gone for without catching any fish.
The blue represents the sea. It starts to swallow the pages as the old
man is going towards the high sea, more and more distant from the shore.
The arrangement of the text illustrates what is happening in the storyline, representing the dialogs,
the physical effort made by the fisherman as well as what has been taken away from him by the sharks.
Finally, the yellow transports us to the paradise dreamt by the old
man, a calm place far away from where he is and from all his worries.
