GPB celebrated its fourth annual Downton Abbey gala leading up to the fifth season premiere. One of the elements for the event was a lifelike cake of one of the show's beloved characters, The Dowager Countess, created by Atlanta baker Karen Portaleo. I conceived the idea to capture a time lapse of the entire creation of this masterpiece. Paired with clips and sound bites of Maggie Smith’s character from over the years, and a remix of the theme song, this spot was intended to generate interest for the upcoming season in a fun, fresh, creative way.
Days after posting the video online, it went viral, gaining national attention from popular news outlets and personalities including, MTV, E News, Today, and Perez Hilton.
