Pi Kappa Phi @ Missouri State Recruitment Branding

Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity @ Missouri State
At the start of my sophomore year at Missouri State University, I had the opportunity to serve as the recruitment chair for my fraternity. I chose to highlight this project as it was not only the first opportunity I had to design a visual brand but because it remains one of my favorite projects in terms of the overall look and effectiveness.
Initial Designs
The first design of a logo. Members of Pi Kappa Phi are called "Pi Kapps" for short. Most incoming college freshman are not familiar with the Greek alphabet. This design was an attempt to associate our nickname with our full Greek name, a key task when trying to stand out amongst 15 other fraternities.
The first design of a recruitment event flyer.
"We Will Lead" Theme

The goal for the publicity materials was to create a cohesive brand image that would allow our target audience, incoming freshman and underclassmen unfamiliar with the Greek system, to differentiate our chapter from the 10+ other fraternities on campus. We also wanted to highlight the aspect of our chapter that separated us from most other fraternities; leadership and leadership development.
The final logo design.  The crossed swords around a star is one of the newer symbols of Pi Kappa Phi. The decision was made to use this image in the design rather than the crest as fraternity crests are very similar and hard to differentiate.
The recruitment video, created by Keith Kennedy.
The final recruitment event flyer.
The flyer for our marquee recruitment event, Root Beer Fest.
The combination pocket recruitment schedule and business card. A blank line was left for brothers to fill in their information when they met men interested in attending rush events as a way of adding a personal touch.
