Won Silver in Citrapariwara 2015 for Best Use of Social Media Marketing
Filosofi Kopi Movie was adapted from a short story. It followed the story of an idealist barista who took on the challenge to create the best, most perfect blend of Indonesian coffee.

Due to the popularity of the short story, we decided from the very beginning to involve the readers and the public the whole production process from research to shooting and until after the movie is released.

And so we named the project as The First User Generated Movie.

FILKOP TRIP. Firstly, we invited the public to go on a research field trip to find out more about coffee. Together with the movie actors and crew, we visited coffee plantations and manufacturers to see how coffee beans are harvested, ground, roasted, and made into the drinkable coffee.

As part of character study, we trained our cast members as baristas in various coffee shops in Indonesia. Then, the public would also get a chance to taste the coffee they brewed.

Through a mobile apps and our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts, we invited the public to join the forum to choose and discuss the characters and the most suitable style of the two main characters as well as the interior design of the Filosofi Kopi café. We also asked people to submit a song, that would be included as one of the soundtracks in the movie. And for two most active participants, we rewarded them a chance to come visit us at the film set during our shooting days.

The coffee shop where we shot the movie was opened for public, as functioning café, complete with the actors as the serving baristas and the original house blends – just like in the book and the movie!

The famous blend of Kopi Tiwus and Ben’s Perfecto were also no longer fictional, as we created the blend and sold it for people to enjoy!

As a way to show our concern to the lives of coffee farmers, we donated each ticket proceed to one coffee seed.
