I use photography as a means of revealing human nature. I express my vision in exploring the way people think, feel and act. Phobia, a body of work frees the intense fear of certain objects and situations on every ordinary person. Phobia is a strong, irrational fear of something that poses little or no real danger. It usually starts in children or teens, and continue into adulthood. Anxiety is made up of subtle, subconscious fear-based thoughts. In my work, Pediophobia(fear of doll), Thalassophobia(fear of ocean), Acrophobia(fear of heights), Claustrophobia(fear of being in enclosed space) and Coulrophobia(fear of clowns) are documented. As fear is a kind of memory-oriented, subtle subconscious belief program operates in our present mind and affecting our lives in a negative way. Thus, photographs of different phobias are printed on transparent papers; models are photographed behind the transparent paper, creating a double exposure effect. The effect echoes the theme since memories are layers in our minds. Models’ facial expressions are slightly blurred, leaving the viewers a room for interpretation. Light pale colors in these photographs create mood and resemble the subtle memories as well.
