Cine Portfolio (April 2016)

Isle's Edge. f/9. Infinity. 1/200. Z19. Clear ND. ISO 6400. 6000k WB.
I've done a bit of work to touch up the composition of this one, including the sxclusion of a couple distracting elements. I believe this to be the definitve version of the image I captured.

Reverence. f/4.0. 7.6ft. 1/288. Z74. Clear ND. ISO 1000. 7200k WB.
I wanted to emphasize myself as the heart of this image amongst the trees in order to convey a sense of great reverence for nature. Behind me is an enormous replant of previously dispatched coniferous forest growth.
Skulls. f/4.5. 1.5ft. 1/100. Z41. 1/11 ND. ISO 4000. 4100k WB.
In my father-in-law's basement, he has hung and mounted almost all of his hunting and trapping troophies. I found myself magnetized to the relics, as I often think about how the skull used to be part of a living, breathing organism. I wanted to capture the solemn and solitary life of the trophies.
Woods Swing. f/10. 11.5ft. 1/2400. Z49. Clear ND. ISO 2000. 5800k WB.
Far off in the forests of Southern Washington is a sole swing, marked only by a (very hard to spot) fencepost. It's a bit of a walk, and it sits untouched most times. I found the image uneasy to shake. I had my wife let the swing go, and I captured it on the upswing. I wanted to find the optimism in the image.

Axe To Grind. f/6.3. 200ft. 1/25. Z79. 1/16 ND. ISO 1250. 3200k WB.
A handcrafted axe buries it's full edge into the top of a log. I wanted to capture as much of the motion in this rustic composition as I could. My use of the slow shutter speed was deliberate, as I wanted the motion blur, indicative of the angle of the axe's strike.

Lighting. f/4.5. 8.8ft. 1/576. Z81. Clear ND. ISO 2500. 4800k WB.
One of my better lighting jobs during my first week of using my new light kit. The background isn't anything to write home about, but I'm proud to say that my sinematic lighting is constantly growing to become something that I believe will be very special to my works; perhaps, even, recognizable.
Phasma. f/5.0/ 1.7ft. 1/1200. Z60. Clear ND. ISO 3200. 5700k WB.
One of my favorite things about the newest Star Wars entry: Captain Phasma. I used my die cast figure to try and work with bouncing lights on a smaller scale. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I think it turned out to be a cool composition. With some time spent in Lightroom; refocusing my image, I was able to get an admirable picture.
Barber Shop. f/20. 138ft. 1/12. Z00. 1/4 ND. ISO 1000. 3300k WB.
Atop a hill sits a lone Barbershop. It has a great deal of land around it and a long road leading toward it. The largest callout, I think, is the Barber Pole. I wanted to call the eyes to it, where the viewer can then pan right to see that it's only the beginning of the story, here.
