The Drifters glide through the expanse of space, consuming everything in their path...

"Space Moths" was a Sophomore year independent project where I blended two of my interests (Moths and Space) into a concept that belongs in a Sci-Fi TV Show--the kind with cruddy CGI and great sound effects. Space Moths drift moon to moon to devour, hiding in nebulae and camouflaging from low-quality cameras. Each moth has a color scheme inspired by nebulae or galaxy pictures from NASA; in order from left to right: The Milky Way, The Tarantula Nebula, and the Rosette Nebulae.

I used my own style of cross-hatching and blending to generate the colors and shading for this piece. I researched a lot of different kinds of moths to create this fictional moth species, focusing on: fuzzy bodies, fuzzy antennae, and moon-like patterns.

"Space Moths" was sold to a private collection.
