Nowadays, specially because of the Internet, people have access to all sorts of resources when it comes to Fashion. People mix new pieces with some others they got from their grandmas/grandpas wardrobes, or even bought from thrift stores. Costumers don't want to obey the current style, they want to put different references together and build their own interpretation of it.
