Chill'Area

Chill’Area is a series of public seats build from pallets, that won the Art of Freedom Contest 2016 by Sziget Festival.
The aim was to design a simple and easy to realize structure. The Chill’Area project comes from the ideas of interaction, integration, and sharing. Unlike the ‘dispersive’ characteristics of benches which offering space to few people and which are often located far away from each other, the Chill'Area is constituted by a series of large seats forming a social nucleus within a public context.
The project, thanks to its modularity characteristic, is highly versatile. It can be easily adaptable to any kind of urban or public context, as it is modular and easy to be reassembled. For example, you can build a structure composed of several seats in an empty area of a public space, like a park. Or, using just one or two seats it may become an element of elegant furniture to a courtyard or a small garden, complementary to existing architectures or furniture. Chill'Area can also be customized both in an aesthetic and functional way, by painting it, implementing it with tends and coverages or adding plants and flowers. The project perfectly fits in an environmental and social context: after the primary use, it can be maintained, improved or recycled, responding to the requirements of an increasingly important theme that is sustainability.
