Purely Hair
Introduction
In the colored community, along in others, there is a new awareness that the natural physical appearance of our women is beautiful, so the trend for wearing natural hairstyles is on the rise. There are many sites that can cater to this community but the applications are limited. Within this community there are many things you have to be knowledgeable about and the information is there, but disbursed among many places. The need is for all pertinent information to be easily accessable in one social apparatus.
Task
Our objective was to create an app for a product or service. Then, design a website in support of the application showcasing its uses and features.
Actions
Initially I started by researching applications that were geared toward natural hair and beauty to understand the audience’s needs, and develop content for both my app and website.
To accomplish my objective I created “Purely Hair,” a social community hub where all those with natural hair types can come and find relevant information about their beautiful mane, from type to product facts to styling and appointments.
Results
To satisfy my goals I created an app where the perspective user could find anything pertaining to their natural hair needs. First, they would create a profile and categorize their hair type. In their profile they would also be able to record their natural hair journey, find and share tutorials, as well as the best tips and remedies for future hair ambitions. The other app features would include; learning about the best products, where to buy them, finding a stylist in your area with reviews, and sharing you experiences and ideas.
The website would be an extension of the app. It would have more detail in the areas of learning about hair and what’s best, but it stresses the convenience of the application.
