Inspired by the typography from my favorite rock band's debut album, Hiatus End is is a simple, clean design. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? I've always had an affinity for the idea: exploding onto the scene with Working Man, Rush got to work producing great rock and roll and never looked back. They also didn't stop for a good long while. It is my intention to never stop again, and while I may not take the world by storm or enjoy the level of success that Alex, Geddy and the new guy have over the course of their careers, I am back to creating for the sole reason that it is what I love to do.

Hiatus End is both an announcement and a tribute from this working man.
The BB&T Tower in downtown Raleigh, NC may not be the most iconic building in history, but it is a very cool design. Interrupting the muted grays of a foggy downtown night with bold lighting in the corners of the structures stepped sides it does stand as one of the more interesting new buildings in town. While it may not be as impressive an edifice as those strewn about the cityscape of New York, it still is a sight to see. Accenting the corner lighting with a little bright color is this peices only pretension.
Retro Car Club is the theme, and attention getting bright colors the means of getting the message across in this actual plug for a fictitious event. Deconstructing a 1958 Corvette into its most basic shapes was a fun exercise. Completely created in Adobe Illustrator, everything is vectored art, right down to the quick handwriting and dashed-lines surrounding the pinstriping.
Like to hike, fish, camp, or kayak? The Haw River which runs through central NC is a spectacular place to do so. There is a stark beauty to the winding, rock-strewn river that is at once imposing and peaceful. Just a few tweaks to the font were all that was needed to complement the icons across the top of the poster.
Durham... is a tribute to that city's history and one of the iconic pieces of album art ever made. Inspired in part by the album art for one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums, Durham... is the second in my central NC places series. I wanted to pay tribute to Durham's heritage as a tobacco town while showing it's cleaner, contemporary appeal. Flipping the theme for the Animals album art on it's head, I kept the overall feel of the composition and adapted the typography to suit my needs.
