Junot Diaz is a short story writer, but most of his stories follow and are narrated by the character Yunior. This design shows the disconnectedness of the stories along with his fractal ideals and understanding of women, along with his helplessness to temptation. The very personal way that he writes is expressed through the form of an imprint: a hand reaching out for Drown, a shoe for Wao, and a kiss for This is How You Lose Her.
