For SMU Chamber Choir’s 10th anniversary concert, the choir wanted a poster that was bold, inviting, and representative of what the choir stands for. With a theme that beckons, ‘Everybody Sing!’ and a concert series named after the invisible sound waves that make up music, I designed a poster bearing three major components in mind.

The first thing that you see are the ‘sound waves’—the ‘Wrinkles in the Air’—that are made up of the hand-lettered titles of the pieces from the concert repertoire. This leads the eye down to the focal point of the poster: SMU Chamber Choir, also hand-lettered and cleaned up on Illustrator. Underneath all of this is a watercolor background that was made by layering watercolors one after another which mildly alludes to ten years of music making by the choir.
