NYMPH is a photo project by Mal Muga that visually represents expression in the physical and spiritual sense. The images have been paired to reflect the dual expression.  The ones against a black background represent physical expression and the ones in a white background representing spiritual expression. The Project was heavily inspired by the scarification practice among various african communities as a form of unique individual expression of a spirituality somewhat deleted by the modern. The seeds on the models face are the avenue that the photographer choose to incorporate the scarification practice. In his practice the photographer tries to marry or recreate an african deity within the grander opus of modernity and the western deities that aremore often than not represented and historicized. Is it possible to think of a nymph as African?This is both a reimagination and an attempt to reconstruction  of a lost mythology.
