Restoration of Church in Landeyjar

Kross Church
The restoraton of Krosskirkja in Iceland one of the projects that I participated in during my stint at ARGOS Architects. The Church is one of Icelands oldest wooden churches built the year 1848. The mission is to restore the church to its original state, look and Condition. The church also contains the oldest altarpiece in Iceland, from the 1500´s.
In order to make a successful restoration, somekind of description of the church as it was, is invaluable. As it happened I had access to the Bishop´s visitation, which is a kind of manifest and description of the church as it was in the year 1849. Information was gathered from the document and applied to the drawing process  in the hope of making them true to their origins.
