Smithsonian Book Jackets

Each cover incorporates the actual medium discussed in the book. For Fiber Arts, the title was hand stitched with embroidery floss and then scanned. For Paper Arts, the title was created three dimensionally out of paper through quilling and then photographed. Digital arts was created in Illustrator, but has hints of what it is like working with digital arts, such as the pen tool and anchor points.

In addition to the medium of the titles, each art has a complimentary pattern and/or texture. Fiber Arts contains the white fabric pattern on which you stitch, Paper Arts has a triangular paper pattern and Digital Arts has grid lines, like those you set up in a digital document. They all use different similar color palettes to create cohesiveness, as well as stay bright and eye catching.
