February 4, 2016: The time of college midterms is upon us, and as the assignments get harder, a lot of us find ourselves making bad decisions, whether it is having little-to-no sleep, doing extreme procrastination, or something else. In my case, I have been eating more unhealthily, substituting important food pyramid groups for chips, chocolate, and candy.
For this project, I thought it would be enjoyable to make photographs that show an example of my decision-making during this hard time. I have made a contrast between natural and artificial. I utilize three examples of fruits and three examples of candy options with those fruity flavors to display this. I did not create this body of work to raise awareness on the issue of unhealthy diets; I have attempted to photograph my subjects in a way that does not show the negativity that can be involved in such a topic. Instead, I chose to make contrasts between the fruits and their candy counterparts.
Taste the Grapes (photograph above) is an honorable mention in the SCAD Port City Review 2017 student works publication and was also accepted into the LOOK HERE Photographic Exhibition 2016.
