Imagine life without colour. No green trees, no blazing red- orange fires, no cerulean oceans or azure skies. Such a big part of nature is made up of the colour blue.

As I started thinking about which topic to choose, I thought about things that fascinates me. The colour blue has always been my favourite colour, mainly for its calming, serene qualities. I decided to explore why I am almost as fascinated by it as Yves Klein was back in the 1900’s.

In this process, I expect to discover interesting facts about this colour and how it relates to design. I will explore how it was used by artists in art history, how it relates to the design principles and how it is used today in branding. I will also look at colour psychology and the symbolic meaning of the colour.
