"Crikey!" a picture-book for children about the life of the famous wild life conservationalist and television personality Steve Irwin.
Research was done on Steve Irwin’s life and events from his life that shaped him to become who he was were picked out to be made into a story form. Conflict and resolution was built into the storyline to make it engaging for children.
Once the story was finalized, thumbnail sketches were made for every page to determine the position and interaction between the type and the image. Hand-lettering was used as it allowed more freedom in terms of composition and also made the book more energetic and engaging.
