This 52 inch by 36 inch tapestry was inspired by the Art Deco movement of the 20th century. By using a geometric pattern, hard lines, and sharp edges, the feeling of Art Deco could be achieved. The crammed and spaced treadling sequence used allowed for the line work to be achieved and created a sense of dimension because of the open gaps and spaces. 8/2 tencel was used for both the warp and weft because of how shiny it was and the color choices were made based upon the Art Deco movement. The warp was gold to show the lavish feel of the time, while the weft colors were chosen because of the deep richness they possessed.
