This series of miniature watercolour illustrations depicts several monuments in India.

India has some of the most diverse cultures in the world, and this is represented through the difference in the architecture of the monuments spread out across the country. These illustrations began as a challenge to identify monuments alphabetically. I learned a lot about the period each was constructed in, and the purpose behind its creation.

Painted on 4x4" 300gsm watercolour paper, the small dimension of the illustrations are meant to be in stark contrast to the monumental size of these beautiful structure in real life. 

 

Five of these illustrations were exhibited at the SCAD Small Works Exhibition in Gutstein Gallery from December 2015 to January 2016.
