It's a lamp, it's a quilt, it's a sculpture, it's lumpy.
In my ongoing quest to make the world a softer place, Lumpy Lamp is both soft to the touch and a source of soft light. The concept was for a lamp that was also an interactive soft sculpture. The lamp consists of three hand-quilted panels that protrude from the concrete base. The aluminum armature mesh that is quilted inside of each panel allows the lamp to be malleable but still hold its shape. This enables the user to manipulate the form of the lampshade, and therefore how much light comes out.
