Art History Poster- The Vienna Secession

This poster was designed to educate people on the historical art movement- The Vienna Secession. I designed it in the style of the movement, the layout emulating Moser's symmetrical design style and using the paths as image holders for some of Klimpt's works. The piece was created using Adobe Indesign.
Here are some of the images (artwork created by Gustav Klimpt) I placed in the compound paths.
This poster design by Moser was where I originally found my inspiration.
I then found this play off of the famous cover of Ver Sacrum. How the image was mirrored inspired me to use it as a guide, tracing aspects of the art with the pen tool to make the design running throughout the middle of the poster.

I then used the bird pattern as a guide for the pattern I placed in the text strip using the same method.
Before I designed the poster, I researched typefaces designed from those used in the Secession and did a typeface study.
I also used Colourlovers.com in order to find some color palette options.
I also designed a research paper alongside the poster. Since the Vienna Secession was characterized by bold display fonts used large with little writing, the information I placed in the actual poster was minimized as much as possible. All of the other information can be found in the research paper. The research paper was also designed in the secession style, so while I wouldn't usually use a display font such as Arts and Crafts as body text I made an exception to keep the feel of the movement.
For the image of the secession building and the chair on these two pages, I imported regular looking images into photoshop and played with blending options to give them an old printed look.
Using photoshop, I dropped the backgrounds out of these images with blending options.
