Getting Elevated
A wanderlust from music to philanthropy.
To expand awareness to the next flight of their campaign #LoveTravels Mariott looked to Evolve Media and their Lifestyle focused publisher Crave to develop a Native Branded Content strategy that would reach out to Travel Buffs especially those interest in Hispanic Cultural Destinations.
Aligning Ambassadors
Marriott’s #LoveTravels campaign highlighted stories by several Notable Brand Ambassadors from the Entertainment Industry as they discussed their love of travel, why they travel and what travel means to them.

Our editors took notable quotes from a handful of Marriott’s Brand Ambassadors that are Influencers in the eyes of the Crave User and crafted Aligning Articles that spoke to the overarching theme of Travel as well as to what each Brand Ambassador represented. Below is a look into the creation of 1:3 Elevates.

Elevate
We displayed the Aligning Articles as a Elevate - which is Premium Format of how a Article is Displayed on CraveOnline and allows a more immersive way for User’s to digest the content. Based on a Boostrap Grid Structure to allows a Responsive and Cross-Device Experience. We used a custom CMS Plugin based in Wordpress to develop the Elevate – the first iteration of the Plug-in is very basic and limited versatility in typography and layout.

At the behest of the Client we were required to include the Notable Quotes Our Editor’s used as inspiration within the Article and we were not allowed to use imagery of any other Entertainers in order to remove any doubt of who Marriotts Brand Ambassador’s are.

The later request posed a subtle problem on the design side but, we were able to find a beautiful solution.
BAND OF BROTHERS: Notable Musical Bloodlines

When I first read the article three things that immediately came to mind were
• HBO Mini-series of the same name and the Keyart of the row of silhouette soldiers.
• Genealogy & Celtic Symbology specifically their use of bold and interlocking lines.
• Musical Instruments wielded by the Musicians mentioned; Drums and Guitars.
Color Palette
Went with a monochromatic sepia color palette. Choose those colors as most instruments use highly grained wood like Fender Guitar. With the majority of the Musicians mentioned were actual Brothers there is that undeniable long time history and it brought to mind old weathered photos. The red accents…was also an obvious choice.
Layout
Used popular techniques such as knooling and collage to help organize the multitude of images to create one iconic image for each Bloodlines.
