Clarendon Page Spread

I researched the history of the Clarendon typeface including its founder, common uses, and distinguishing characteristics. I then used this information to create 2 page spreads that detailed my findings both visually and in writing. The end result is a valuable informational piece integrated with graphic elements that are visually pleasing and support the written component.
I chose to use the words "slab serif" as a focal point because I felt it was important to point out Clarendon's classification as a typeface. This element allowed me to visually illustrate the important characteristics of Clarendon and other slab serif typefaces.
I used the same two colors and a common flow-line to maintain visual consistency between these two pages.
I included images that helped show the history of the typeface. For instance, I found a "Wanted" poster for John Wilkes Booth that demonstrates Clarendon being used to convey short, important messages.
My hope is that I made a little history lesson more enjoyable through the thoughtful organization of graphic elements incorporated with my own research and writing.
