Synopsis
Our homeless shelter is a sustainable shelter solution where upcycling becomes the fundamental idea.
Our notion focuses on converting easily salvage materials (plastic bottles, banner canvas and coroplast)
into self-assemble structure with simple construction techniques joined with plastic connectors and cable ties.
By providing essential tools kit, it contributes self-repairing and self-installation with a range of materials.
The architecture serves the basic needs (accommodation, shelter from extreme weather) and also inspires
social sharing spaces because of its flexibility in spatial arrangement and expansion along with communal
platform for homeless people. Truly turning trash into treasure
Design goal
Survive (basic needs)
• sleep
• proprety storage
• hygiene e.g. washing bucket, shared hanging rope
• shield from harsh weather e.g. cold conditions, freezing temperature at winter
Beyond shelter
• bond/gather the homeless to survive together : alone, neighbour, community
• sustainable shelter : low maintanance, easy to repair
