ARC-Blood Donations

Brief 2:
Blood can’t be made. It can only be given. To that point, blood doesn’t keep, so we need donations constantly. And people are busy giving their time and thoughtfulness to their immediate circles during the holidays. How can we get people to give blood in holiday season?

Red Friday
People spend hours doing nothing waiting for stores to open on Black Friday. We could make those hours productive by partnering with retail stores (like Best Buy) to setup up mobile blood drives where people can give blood while waiting for stores to open. We could give people who donate blood the reward of an “express line” that get’s into the store before the regular line. Another possibility is to give people small discounts off purchases.
Uber Drive Blood
We would team up with a car service like Uber to have a mobile blood drive that shows up on the app’s map during a given time in December. Similar to the way cars show up on the Map screen, Red Cross Blood Drive Vehicles could show up on the map and allow people to find out where Mobile Blood Drive vehicles are so that they can donate blood. We would also make it possible for people to set up what vehicle they want to donate at.
ARC Theatre
Going to the movies usually requires people to show up early to get a seat and to sit around and do nothing for a long period of time. We could make use of this time by partnering with Fandango and/or AMC this December for the release of a big movie like Star Wars and have people give blood while they sit down before a movie in order to watch the movie for free
