Can Opener Redesign

 Can Opener Redesign
With a focus on human factors
For this project I was given the task of redesigning a kitchen tool with a focus on human factors. I chose to design a new can opener because as I found out through research the can opener uses the small muscles in your hands and arms. The small muscles in combination of a twisting jerking motion make it difficult and tiresome. To alleviate this I drew upon my experience working on cars and realized that a wrench is tool that uses much larger muscle groups. By switching to a wrenching action you can apply more force more easily, you tire less easily, and you can rotate around the can much faster.
