Ultra Violet is a song by Team 9 that is particularly captivating. The lyrics evoke the story of a woman who shuns away from bright skies and seeks protection.
From the concept of the song, I expanded my ideas from the band’s artwork and research for more styles and references.
Storyboard
After created a rough storyboard with pencil sketches and revised them with Photoshop. The song is mainly about a girl who is struggling to stay away from sunlight. Therefore, the visual theme of light and shadow is explored throughout the animation. The purple color palette emphasizes the song title and creates a strong visual metaphor for the song.
