Expressionism: [24]Nucleus

With the knowledge of expressionism and abstractionism in mind, the objective was to create a form that communicated a characteristic of my self. I sought for images that embody the essence of knowledge and symbolize creativity. I came across a TEDx talk describing the art of info-graphics and found my inspiration; a network diagram. Breaking out of the cubic form, I created a form which reflected my innate desire to learn.

Converting this concept into something architectonic, I used arches which were physical connections between points to parallel the way creativity connects ideas together. The number comes from the twenty four connections between the distinct nodes and the term nucleus comes from the neuroanatomical term describing a cluster of neurons in the brain.
Having a composition made primarily out of curvilinear forms risked the chance of not meeting the requirement of having an implied cube. This was managed by creating a floor plan in which the nodes for the arches were placed at the vertexes of two squares. The first square encompassed the smaller square which was rotated at a 45 degree angle to create variety in the form--otherwise the center would have appeared too empty from the four major views.

Dont forget to appreciate and share the love!
