CHALLENGE:
Design letterforms using FontStruct that are harmonious in weight, proportion, spacing, type color, texture, and unique design. Design an uppercase or lowercase version of the english alphabet.
Design an 11" x 17" typographical poster using your typeface as the main element and a secondary typeface that works with yours. The poster should reveal the directional path between your home and the university. Explore message content, hierarchy, sequencing of letters, words, and lines of type to enhance the development of a typographic landscape and amplify and expand content, context and meaning.
“Dodge and weave” is the predominant thing on my mind during my daily bike ride to campus. Beginning around 7th East and 7th North, I ride north and around some caution cones, weaving through cars and texting pedestrians in the parking lot. I stay to the side of the road and head north again. I’ve reached campus.
The blocks and buildings are represented by the black letters, with strips of white as sidewalk. My path is a white jagged line beginning at the bottom right hand corner and weaving through the letters until reaching the top.
