The Big Event
10 Years of Service. One Great Cause.
I created these projects for Pittsburg State University's Big Event. The Big Event was originally started at Texas A&M University in 1982 as a way to give back to the community and give thanks to them for all that they do. It is a one-day service project in which students perform simple tasks such as cleaning yards, pulling weeds, planting flowers, etc. Since its humble beginnings, many middle schools, high schools, and universities nationwide have adopted this service project. 2012 will be the tenth year for the Big Event in Pittsburg and each year it has grown significantly; it is the single largest community service event in the Southeast Kansas area. This year I was asked by Pittsburg State's Student Government Association to do the logo and design-work for advertising materials, as well as the t-shirt design. Below is the logo, which was utilized in a number of posters and flyers that were distributed across campus and throughout the community. The t-shirt design follows. The t-shirt will be worn by over 700 students the day of the Big Event.
