Focus on the functionality, this lamp is designed to provide users with the convenience whenever they need the light. It is suitable to put either in the living room or bedroom; on the desk or the nightstand.
To make the using experience more intuitive, the design make it eaiser for users to turn on/off the light by rotating the shaft on top of the bookend-shaped lamp.
As my design principle, I have always believed "less is more." In this design, I get rid of all the sructures that might be seem redundant and let the light shine with pure simplicity.
Modeling
The material used for the structure is South American Teak, which is comparatively harder and more expensive. The process of making this lamp was in a wood studio in Taipei, Taiwan, with contributions from carpenter Ming-Shiang Chen.
