Are refugees a menace? I don’t think so. And I will prove it.
Countless refugees are making the journey to Europe in the hope of fleeing war and poverty. But when they arrive, they are met with violence, hate and hostility.
Some are propagating hate politics. Several other have sympathy, support and help on offer.
But more often than not, it’s hate that outshines the good. We wanted to change that.
Hate will never drown the sounds of the good
This website makes it clear that, no matter where you’re from, you are welcome. The website curates all positive content using keywords. By simply clicking on hearts, Instagram users show their support. People were then encouraged to share encouragement and tips using #refugeeswelcome.
Take on the haters, bring home the refugees.
On one hand, the website enabled people to voice their positive opinions and guide the refugees. On the other, it confronted haters and made them see that everybody is indeed welcome.
Abstract design for real problems.
We’ve all seen the Time photographs. They have the power to move everyone. But since our website focused on goodness, we used illustrations to make the visual experience smoother and easier to digest for the user. We used some real images to preserve the refugee’s struggle.
