MTA- New York Subway Guide

Concept Idea for Transportation Map and MTA Redesign - Information Design
New York is a place of high tourist in¬come, so they need a map that would be easily understood by a first time visitor and they needed a map as a reference tool for the people who live and work there constantly. The subway in New York is the most popular form of transportation to get around the city so it needs to have an AMAZING map! The design plan was to take the ugly mess and confusion of all the maps out there for NYC transportation and create an amazing Subway guide for both tourist and New Yorkers! An important feature is the icons that represent points of interest so if people get lost or are looking for popular landmarks of New York they can relatively associate the distance and their positioning to the city grid. My physical concept for the map was to make a fold up map that will fit in your pocket or bag. The back of the map is attached to a book which incorporates all of the information about the icons found on the map as well as the Subway lines that you will need to take in order to get there. The Map also acts as a information guide for the MTA and a folder to hold your time tables/schedules and your Metro Card! The whole idea is to create an all in one brochure for the busy people and travelers of New York.

Let the MTA guide you along the way, ENJOY THE RIDE!

(The inspiration for the map redesign is based on the 2011 Metropolitan Transportation Authority Map! That can be found on the mta.info website.)
