The Crusades and Lovecraft's Monsters

This is a series of illustrations that imitates the style of old medieval paintings and adds a macabre flavour by incorporating some of H.P. Lovecraft's famous monsters. The text is mostly medieval Middle High German.

High towering monster
First and last attempt of the Great Race of Yith to perform a physical transfer.
Text in Middle High German: 'With a lot of light and thunder out of a bright crown of light steps the high towering monster. With a lot of hewing it was chased away.'
Abominable thing
Text (not completely Middle High German): Attack on an abominable thing that felt from the sky. With a lot of hewing and stabbing it was made dead.
Demon from the deep
A Deep One rises. Text again in Middle High German (as far as I could translate it): From the Dead Sea steps the monster to take the helples maid. Very horrible are the descendants.
Flying devils
An expedition of a Byzantine, a Saracen and a Jew scholar finds something unexpected.
Text in Middle High German: A lot of knowledge promises the book of the mad Abdul Alhazred for the Greek, Saracen and Jew. Instead a lot of fear and fright comes for the three wise men from the flying devils.
Terrible dragon spawn
Saracens fighting a star spawn. Text in Middle High German: The Saracens batter the terrible dragon spawn quite bravely. Many a head and limb is crushed until it lays dead in the sand.
Misshapen Beast
Text is in almost accurate Middle High German.
Translation: Not sword and not spear cut into the misshapen beast, but fire and pitch bring the monster down. Tekeli-li screams the beast while it fades away in the flames.
Terrible Creature
Crusaders fight against a young Gug that escaped from the Dreamlands.
Text in Middle High German: With thundering hooves the brave order knights beat the horrifying creature to death.
Nightmare from the Sky
A Night-gaunt terrorises the country. German knights en route to the Holy Land chase it away.
Text:
-With dark wings the black devil spreads terror among the peasants.
- Brave the German men chase away the fiend from field and town.
