Introspection Museum Exhibition

Introspection is a hypothetical museum exhibition featured at the SCAD Museum of Art. The exhibition explores the overview effect, a cognitive shift in awareness experienced by astronauts while in orbit. As the individual gains a holistic view of the Earth they begin to understand the planet as a singular ecosystem allowing for a new comprehension of global consciousness.

The exhibition visually mimic “Earth-gazing” through an emphasis on Earth’s perception from space. Introspection represents the phenomenon as the situational reality of space ushers a shift within. Solid and outlined visuals reinforce introspection throughout the exhibition branding. A bright blue depicts the planet’s significance in juxtaposition to the emptiness of space around it while outlined astronauts connect the individual to the narrative.

Introspection is a hypothetical museum exhibition featured at the SCAD Museum of Art. Derived from the overview effect, Introspection aims to abstract the perceptual shift attained when viewing the Earth from space.

The concept is conveyed through playful abstract forms that engage an audience and allow for increased internalization and reflection. The exhibition is multi-faceted as it includes a gallery setting, external advertising, narrative literature, and package design.
