The design proposal takes place in Claiborne Avenue, where currently an elevated highway, I-10, runs through. The bigger idea is to use this corridor as the first branch of a series of cannals that, connected to existing ones, would create a network of waterways in New Orleans. Claiborne avenue was also designed as the civic spine of Tremé Neighbohood, an area affected and segregated by I-10. The partial removal of the highway, leaving some pieces of the structure, and redevelopment of empty parcels would open land for new buildings oriented for public use.

A wide range of uses is implemented to create attraction nodes for different social groups.
The element that connects those multiple activities is New Orleans' waters.
