I host a party every Halloween and I wanted to thank everyone that came, by putting together a little Walking Dead themed trailer with pictures I took of everyone in their Halloween costumes.
On the Night of the party, I took pictures of each person in costume. There was only one person in attendance that was not in costume, so I made that person a zombie. We had a costume contest so most people actually tried. When I took the pictures, I asked each person what weapon they would like to be holding, and either used a block of wood, or a toy gun to get their hands in the correct position. I took the pictures and masked them out in photoshop, and then added in the weapons they chose. One person wanted no weapon.
I put the scenes together in After Effects. Using a 3d and paralaxing effect, I inserted the characters into each scene.
Names were added to emulate the credits played in an intro. As you can see, some characters do not have names. These are simply "zombies" that I used to try to mold the atmosphere of the scene.
I layered different objects, such as a tree, to create more of a paralax effect. I also added some grunge textures before finishing the project. The final scene was done by masking out an image, and playing a video of some clouds behind it. Once again I added the grunge filters, and I also played around with the curves.
Here is the project in its finished state. I added the theme song to The Walking Dead, and sent it to everybody who came. This was the most fun project I have ever done to date, and I couldn't stop working on it in my free time. I can't wait until next October to do it again!
