The Mount Vernon Inn partnered with George Washington's Distillery and Old Ox Brewery to create a custom beer fermented in whiskey barrels from the estate. They needed a name and custom beer handle for this exclusive drink. Named the General's Ox, the beer handle needed to reflect both worlds out of which it was born. While the typography uses the more modern sensibilities of Old Ox Brewery and the Estate's current branding,
all materials were chosen to reflect 18th Century America and the Estate's long history.

The handle is made entirely of wood with weathered finish. The metal work is handmade by Eric Zieg, the Estate's blacksmith.
